Using QV-3000 in
AutoCam / WebCam mode
Casio
QV-3000 models can be used in Automatic
Camera mode (including Webcam
mode).
To do this
you need both a USB and serial
connection. A serial connection alone is
not enough.
This is how to set
it up the first time:
1.
Firstly, get the serial connection
working. Connect the camera via the
serial port and turn the camera on into Play
mode. Go to the Connection Wizard
and click Test All Ports.
If all is well, QV-AutoCam will find your
camera and set the correct port.
2.
Turn the camera off.
3.
Connect the USB cable.
Leave the serial cable connected. Turn
the camera on into REC
mode.
4.
Right-click on the AutoCapture
settings for AutoCapture button
and select USB/Card
5.
When the dialog opens, click Locate.
QV-AutoCam should find your camera. Click
OK
6.
Go to the AutoCam panel
(View >> AutoCam)
7.
Click Advanced.
8.
On this dialog, click USB and
Serial for the Connection type.
9.
Set up any other settings that you want.
Note that it is a good idea to get a
simple automatic camera working before
attempting to set up a webcam or do any
other more advanced things.
10.
Back on the Autocam
panel, click As fast as possible.
(This will take a picture about every 25
seconds).
Now the
automatic camera is set up. Click Start
and watch what happens
Once you
have got this working, QV-AutoCam will
store your settings so that next time you
can start the camera simply by going to
the Autocam panel and clicking Start.
Then you
can start to set up a Webcam if you like.
Setting up a Webcam
The basic
steps that you need to go through to get
a WebCam working are:
1.
Make sure the Automatic Camera
works properly (just the camera and
computer). Also check that it still works
when you are connected to the Internet
and (say) browsing at the same time.
(Sometimes it is possible to have an IRQ
clash between the ports that are being
used.
2.
Use the Internet Settings
dialog to set up your web site details
Hostname, Username, Password,
Directory.
3.
Use the Advanced AutoCam
dialog to enable Send Pictures
using FTP to remote host and Show
FTP Progress
4.
Set Output File to a
test filename (e.g. webcam.jpg)
5.
Run the Automatic Camera.
If all is well the picture will be sent
to the host. You will be able to view the
picture using a normal browser.
6.
Set up an HTML page to
contain your picture.
Due to the
advanced nature of this, and the wide
variety of the Internet, it is fairly
easy to have problems during this
process. BeauSoft is always willing to
help you get your Webcam working. Contact
